Paul St.Amand made his directing debut with the 2006 short documentary Parallels. The film won Best Documentary (post-secondary) at the 2007 BC Student Film Festival, received the Canadian Reflections Award at the 2007 Air Canada EnRoute Student Film Festival, and was nominated for a Golden Sheaf award at the 2007 Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival. Parallels has also been an official selection of the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Calgary International Film Festival, the YoungCuts Film Festival, the Triggerstreet Online Short Film Festival, and the VanCity Theatre Canada Screens series.

Paul then directed the science fiction short Grover's Mill, which was a multiple award-winner at the Vancouver Student Film Festival, a selection of the YoungCuts Film Festival, and was featured on CBC's Exposure. For his work on Parallels and Grover's Mill, Paul was awarded the Lenhoff & Lenhoff Award for Best Director at Vancouver Film School in 2006.

Paul's other credits include the short drama One Last Thing, and a turn as producer of the French-language short Alibi Inc., directed by Grégoire Bédard. Alibi Inc. was a 2007 Golden Sheaf nominee at Yorkton, an award-winner at the Vancouver Student Film and BC Student Film festivals, and an official selection of the Calgary International Film Festival, the Air Canada EnRoute Student Film Festival, and the Calgary Fringe Festival.

A native of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Paul is a graduate of Vancouver Film School and received a bachelor's degree in Commerce from Dalhousie University. He also studied journalism at the University of King's College. Before starting his career as a filmmaker, he worked as a writer and graphic designer.
