NOVEMBER 10 2008, BEDFORD, NS: Fresh off a victory at the 2008 Triggerstreet Online Film Festival, Paul St.Amand was featured this morning on CBC Radio's Information Morning in a piece produced by Bob Murphy. The interview delves into the story behind Parallels, Paul's award-winning debut short.
Parallels, directed by St.Amand and produced by Elden Stewart, is a double portrait of U.S. Army deserters from the Vietnam and Iraq wars. Triggerstreet is the latest in a string of plaudits for the acclaimed film. Parallels won the Canadian Reflections Award at the 2007 Air Canada enRoute Film Festival, Best Documentary at the 2007 BC Student Film Festival, and a Golden Sheaf nomination at the 2007 Yorkton Short Film Festival. Last year St.Amand received the Lenhoff Award for Best Director at Vancouver Film School for Parallels and his science fiction short Grover's Mill.
